From Twigs to Trees!

OK, girlfriends, I'm ready to show you what I have been working on for weeks and weeks.  I told you I was working on something for two special people - it is done!  Let me tell you who, what, when, where, and why.  For as long as I can remember I have given my girls a "Happy December" present.  I just love the Christmas season so much that I am ready to begin the celebration.  So on December 1 I would have a gift for my kids.  They might come home from school and find a Christmas shirt on their bed or I would present them with Christmas socks or a Christmas trinket, maybe cookie cutters or sticker book.  Just something.   For fun!  This year I made:

Grapevine Christmas trees!!!!  I had lots of help!  My sister, Nancy, Mark, and Hank all helped me gather the vines.  Poor Hank got poison twice from helping me find vines!  Then I wrapped the vines around a tomato cage using the vines and thin wire.  It took lots and lots of vines!! I also made vine stars to go on top. I made two.  One for Holly and one for Lindsey.  I put lights on them and had them on the front porch when the girls came for Thanksgiving.  I think they liked them.  I know I did.  I hope to make me one, too, someday!

Speaking of Thanksgiving........

Here we are, enjoying each other and the delicious food prepared by all! Turkey and ham!
See the fabric pumpkins on the table?  Aren't they cute??!!  Homemade by my sister!
Debbie made the spoon bread and frozen salad.
Mom made the green beans and the pies - pumpkin and pecan!
Lindsey brought brownies, of course, and peanutbutter pie, and deviled eggs.
Holly made the Sweet Potato Souffle - she added marshmallows to half of it - yum!
Mark made the jello jigglers - a request of Lindseys!  Caden liked them, too!
This is a wooden turkey I painted.  Hank cut it out for me.  If you want the pattern, just let me know and I will send it to you!  Hope you all had a great day with family and friends.  I want to say I am blessed by God for my awesome family and His rich gifts!

Cheese Spread with Crackers

My sister has made this really good spread and I did not realize it was from a local place there in Freehome. This is good stuff! Frosty Frog Cheese Spread 8 oz. cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup sour cream 3 to 4 oz. finely grated cheese 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic parsley to taste Place all ingredients in medium bowl.  Use electric mixer to mix all together.   Serve with crackers, celery, carrot sticks.

Sister's Birthday Gift

I just had to do Mark's idea - and he helped me - to make a gift for Nancy for her birthday.  I had seen this little poem about growing up with a sister and thought it was perfect.  So we went to several thrift stores looking for the perfect sized canvas picture and after only two stops - found it! This is the canvas with the letters I stuck on it and I began there in the bottom corner to paint it a dark brown.  The canvas is a golden with thin trees and some words in cursive in a light brown.   As you see, I was using a paint brush, but I changed to a small roller.  It worked much much better. Completely painted the top and the sides of the canvas a brown color.  Then I let it dry - probably about 30 minutes.  Then pealed off the letters! Here is the finished product: And it's true.  I did tell on her - it was for her own good. :)
