Halloween Party Goodies

I have been working on the goodies for my sons party so I thought I would show you what I've made so far. First I did the witches hats.  They are striped fudge cookies and chocolate kisses with white icing I tinted orange.  Do you think they look like hats? And my version of cake pops.......... Creepy looking, don't you think?  Would you put one in your mouth?  This recipe made 38 cake pops.  I got some of them too big, so I could probably have gotten more if I had kept them all a little smaller. Below are the milk jug ghost we did.  I got this idea from a magazine.  Cute little guys, huh?!!! We still have a lot of decorating to do and some last minute foods and drinks.  I will post more pictures once we are further along with it all.  We only have a couple more days to get it all done.

Christmas Gift Tags

I made me some Christmas gift tags today!  They are out of the sample paint strips you get at paint stores.  The tag is a punch and the different size snowflakes are too.  So I just punched out and glued together with a glue stick.  I decorated both sides, but left enough room on at least one side to write  or stamp "To and From."  I have not decided what kind of ribbon or string to put in them yet.  I'm thinking some of the jute or cross-stitch floss.  Some pumpkin latte and a few girlfriends over ....this would be a fun night, don't you think?

Found a black bean meal - mmmm, good!

This is so good, so easy, and did I say it's so good?  Get out your crock pot.  Put two skinless, boneless chicken breast on the bottom.  It can still be frozen. Then get you out a can of black beans (rinse and drain). Put that on top of the chicken.  Follow with a can of corn, drained, and a can of Rotel (your favorite type, for there are several).  Now put a block of cream cheese (8 oz. ) on top.  Put the lid on the crock pot, set it on low and cook for 6-8 hours.  I took the chicken out about an hour before we were going to eat and cut it up then put it back in the crock.  It shredded so easily.  Then stirred it up so the cream cheese was throughout it.  You can serve it on rice.  Let me know if you try it and like it.

Painting Season!

Well, really, I can paint ANY season, but for some reason I really want to paint today!  Has anyone tried Martha's new paint line?  I am really interested in how her paint handles glass.  Must paint a snowman!!!  Wish I had a place to sell my stuff so I can justify painting more stuff.  This weekend is the Moonshine Festival.  Maybe I could get Hank to stand on a corner with my windows. I did try making apple fritters today.  They were ok.  Not up to Kroger standard though.  The boys ate them, so they were not a total bust!  My next experiment will be lasagna soup.  Still looking for a good black bean recipe - black bean chili or black bean soup. Lindsey has been creating lots in her new home.  Her burlap wreath is really cute.  I wish I had a picture to show you.  She is really enjoying decorating her home - doing a lot of up-cycling/recycling with old finds.  She is really getting into it. I guess I better go dig out an old window so I can paint me a snowman.  Anyone need a

It's Fall You All!

These are only a few of the fun and beautiful sights I was privileged to see as I wandered through North and South Carolina yesterday.  The colors are beginning to emerge out across the mountains.  The air was a little cool, yet the sun was out - the day was beautiful in all ways.  "I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods." We also went to an arts and crafts festival.  Such talented people!  Gorgeous works of art - paintings, drawings, wood-works, jewelry, soaps, music, sewing, knitting, crocheting....you name it, we saw it! It was a nice day with my parents and my son - in His presence, His glorious presence!  I hope you get to take some time to enjoy this fall season!
