Whatever Girlfriends

My sweet, crazy hubby had a birthday, so, of course, I had to make him something to express to him how much I love him!  I have seen different version of "Love Notes" on Pinterest and Debbie Lanning told me about one she saw and that prompted my decision to make my "Love Note" for my Hankster. I wrote a little love note on it for him to find first thing the morning of his birthday.  And a new one each day since. I found the picture frame at Big Lots.  It is a 5x7 plastic frame. It was l.25.  I think it would look better in a pretty decorative frame out of wood, but my budget is small.  BUT I will keep my eyes open for something I like better at thrift stores and change it out once I make the find.  Then I found the scrapbook paper at Michaels for .29.  The dry erase pen was from Big Lots for 1.00.  So looks like I spent under 3.00!  I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I wrote with a Sharpie on the paper I (heart) you beca...

 Hi, Girlfriends!   I wanted to share the fun thing I did for Valentine's Day for my two boys that are out of town.  Caden - age 3 and Kevin - age 17 - a one size fits all kind of gift! My daughter called and said Caden loved it. I wish I could have been there to see his sweet little face.  But I did get lots of hugs when I saw him yesterday (a wonderful surprise visit!) They came in the bank where I work and he gave me such big, long hugs. Then we walked all around, hand in hand, meeting my co-workers and checking out the whole place. He is such a sweet, handsome, fun little man!  Now, Kevin's reaction was mild.  He called and said thank you for the candy.  And we talked for a little while about how he is feeling and how school is going.  Then after we talked for a few minutes -- he says, "how did you do that?," talking about the candy in the bottle.  So I think he thought it was neat.   If you remember, Kevin is the young...

Lindsey's birthday gift from brother Mark:

I just had to do Mark's idea - and he helped me - to make a gift for Nancy for her birthday.  I had seen this little poem about growing up with a sister and thought it was perfect.  So we went to several thrift stores looking for the perfect sized canvas picture and after only two stops - found it! This is the canvas with the letters I stuck on it and I began there in the bottom corner to paint it a dark brown.  The canvas is a golden with thin trees and some words in cursive in a light brown.   As you see, I was using a paint brush, but I changed to a small roller.  It worked much much better. Completely painted the top and the sides of the canvas a brown color.  Then I let it dry - probably about 30 minutes.  Then pealed off the letters! Here is the finished product: And it's true.  I did tell on her - it was for her own good. :) 

This year our family drew names for Christmas gifts.  Mark is very creative and he has followed his sisters and I onto Pinterest. He made Lindsey some pretty great gifts.  The first one he made was the lighted bottle.  His first attempt was with a bottle that we bought at a flea market and used as a flower vase at Lindsey and Joey's wedding reception.  Mark took it and put etching cream all over it to give it a frosted look.  Then he and his daddy worked on drilling out a hole toward the bottom of the bottle.  The glass drilling takes awhile to do.  When it was almost drilled through big enough to insert the string of lights, the bottom of the bottle broke completely off.  So we went to Wal-Mart, bought a 3 dollar bottle of wine, poured out the wine and started over.  This bottle was already frosted so he could skip this step.  Once the bottle was drilled he took some jute and wrapped on the neck of the bottle, put the lights in and viol...
