Pumpkin Love!

Fall fun means pumpkin, cider, cinnamon, leaves, vines, gourds......you know what makes you smile.  We did the pumpkin quest and hayride.  Also threw in a campfire at the request of our grandson.  I will show you the pictures from our adventure then I want to give you a really good recipe for a pumpkin spice cake that is delicious.  I also have been busy with some craft creations so I will show the pics of them, too.
Here we are at the farm.  It was a beautiful day and lots of fun!
 Posing with the pumpkins.
Picking out a pumpkin to take home was a job.  Lots to choose from.  All shapes and sizes!
 Sister and brother.
Busy getting the pumpkins ready to carve.
 Messy business!
 Tada!
 Proud of his creation.
Can you tell what this is?
 Looks pretty good!

Mark has a friend with a birthday in October so we baked cupcakes for the occasion.  Red Velvet.  They threw a little party that included a scary walk through the woods, a campfire, including marshmallows, and lots of fun.

And our son-in-law also has an October birthday so this is the cake I made just for him.  It is a recipe given to me by Amanda several years ago that our whole family took a liking to.....
White Chocolate Chip Spice Pumpkin Cake

Ingredients:
1 Spice Cake Mix
1 cup of pure pumpkin
2/3 evaporated milk
1/3 cup oil
2 eggs
1 cup white chocolate chips

In medium mixing bowl, mix the Spice Cake, pumpkin, evaporated milk, oil, and eggs. Mix on low speed for 1 minute then medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.  Once it is mixed, stir in 1 cup of white chocolate chips.

Grease a bundt pan and pour mixture in.  Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.  Let cool for about 10 minutes, take out of pan and put on plate.  Let cool completely.

Topping:
1 cup white chocolate chips
3 TBLSP evaporated milk
1 tsp cinnamon

Heat on low, stirring until completely melted.  Pour over cake.

Happy Birthday!

See my recycled t-shirts?!  It was fun to do in an evening.  I made two of each color.  I cut 9 circles for each flower.  Then backed them with felt.  They will look cute pinned on my scarf or clipped in my hair or on my purse!  I could even use them as bows on my gifts!

This is my second attempt at making the stars from grapevines. I made bigger ones last year to be tree toppers.   I cut my vines then wired groups of 6 together.  Then shaped my star, wiring it together then wrapped in jute to cover the wire.  I plan to make several to use as garland.

So, now I have shared a month worth of fun.  I have more stuff I plan to do and I will share it all with you! Please share with me what you are doing, seeing, finding!

I wish God's blessings on you and pray that as we approach the season of Thanksgiving that we will all realize the abundance God has given to us through our family and each other.  I am so thankful for my family and friends and most of all for the love, care, provision from my very big God!

Merry & Bright, A Devotion

Merry & Bright I love Christmas.  I remember as a little girl the magical times my mom orchestrated for our family and friends to truly make the season “Merry & Bright.” They were things like baking the most wonderful Christmas goodies.  Lots and lots of of goodies.  We would package them up on plates and deliver to shut-ins and special family friends.  There were four of us kids, so we did not get out of the car (Mom, working smart here!) I mean, there were no seat belt laws, there were probably not any seat belts! Anyway, She would hop out of the car, run to the door and present our gift and point to us and we would all wave, shout “Merry Christmas!” Sometimes our friends might walk Mom back to the car and say hi and give hugs.  Another way Mom made our season “Merry & Bright” was by opening our home for gatherings.  Mom was the choir director at our church for many years.  She would always have the choir (about 30 members!)  and their families over one Sun
