Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Who does not love pound cake??!!  This is a good and easy recipe.

1 1/2 cups butter (no substitues) room temperature
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, room temperature
2 1/3 cups sugar
6 eggs, room temperature
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and cream cheese.  Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Gradually add flour; beat just until blended.  Stir in vanilla.  Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.  Bake 300 for 1 1/2 hours or until cake tests done.  Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack.  Cool completely.

Good stuff!

Sister's Birthday Gift

I just had to do Mark's idea - and he helped me - to make a gift for Nancy for her birthday.  I had seen this little poem about growing up with a sister and thought it was perfect.  So we went to several thrift stores looking for the perfect sized canvas picture and after only two stops - found it! This is the canvas with the letters I stuck on it and I began there in the bottom corner to paint it a dark brown.  The canvas is a golden with thin trees and some words in cursive in a light brown.   As you see, I was using a paint brush, but I changed to a small roller.  It worked much much better. Completely painted the top and the sides of the canvas a brown color.  Then I let it dry - probably about 30 minutes.  Then pealed off the letters! Here is the finished product: And it's true.  I did tell on her - it was for her own good. :)

Woo Hoo!

So excited that Christmas is coming!  I love the atmosphere of all the love and giving.  I'm in the painting mode for a Christmas craft sale I'm a part of with my new friends. (We have moved to Georgia this past summer.) Here is just the beginning.....for some reason I am all about the Snowfriends. I've made small ones and large porch sitters.  The small signs and Snowfriends will look cute on your three tiered tray or on a shelf.
