True Story: Make Twinkies Healthy (Smile)

True Story:

I was at the day old bread store to get some buns for a cookout for Memorial Day AND while I was there I spotted Twinkies among other sweet no-no's.  So I think to myself....there will be lots of people at my house and I do plan to make pies (Lemon Pies - yum) and have watermelon and cookies and strawberries, but what if they want a quick sweet something????  So I picked up the Twinkies, some cheese crackers, a mini pecan pie, and the buns.  As it turns out, no one ate the Twinkies.  Well, some of them were gone, but more than half of them remained in the goodie jar.  So I decided I must make those Twinkies into a healthy snack!  (giggle)  So......
First, put the unwrapped Twinkie in a bowl.  Then put about 3/4 cup of sliced strawberries on top of the Twinkie.  Next is the Reddi Whip and wala!  Healthy?  Ok, maybe not, but it was good!

Sister's Birthday Gift

I just had to do Mark's idea - and he helped me - to make a gift for Nancy for her birthday.  I had seen this little poem about growing up with a sister and thought it was perfect.  So we went to several thrift stores looking for the perfect sized canvas picture and after only two stops - found it! This is the canvas with the letters I stuck on it and I began there in the bottom corner to paint it a dark brown.  The canvas is a golden with thin trees and some words in cursive in a light brown.   As you see, I was using a paint brush, but I changed to a small roller.  It worked much much better. Completely painted the top and the sides of the canvas a brown color.  Then I let it dry - probably about 30 minutes.  Then pealed off the letters! Here is the finished product: And it's true.  I did tell on her - it was for her own good. :)

Woo Hoo!

So excited that Christmas is coming!  I love the atmosphere of all the love and giving.  I'm in the painting mode for a Christmas craft sale I'm a part of with my new friends. (We have moved to Georgia this past summer.) Here is just the beginning.....for some reason I am all about the Snowfriends. I've made small ones and large porch sitters.  The small signs and Snowfriends will look cute on your three tiered tray or on a shelf.

Cheese Spread with Crackers

My sister has made this really good spread and I did not realize it was from a local place there in Freehome. This is good stuff! Frosty Frog Cheese Spread 8 oz. cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup sour cream 3 to 4 oz. finely grated cheese 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic parsley to taste Place all ingredients in medium bowl.  Use electric mixer to mix all together.   Serve with crackers, celery, carrot sticks.
