Spread love and joy!

December is coming pretty fast, y'all.  And there is this little thing I have done for my kids ever since about 1988. I give my kids a "Happy December" present. When the girls were in elementary school and they came home from school on December 1st,  I usually had a little something laying out on their bed to find. A Christmas sweatshirt I made or a cute pair of Christmas socks or Christmas hair bow - something cute or fun to begin the holiday season. They are now adults, but I still get them something each December 1.  I mail it. Or if I see them at Thanksgiving, I can give it to them. I still do little things - Christmas earrings, Bath & Body Works Peppermint soap, a holiday candle. Oh, and I have a son that I don't leave out of the "Happy December" gifting. He has his own apartment now, so I can give him festive items, like Santa salt and pepper shakers or a Dunkin Donuts gift card for a speciality coffee. Or one year I gave him a pack of lip balm (yes, it was peppermint).

Does this sound like a fun thing you might do? Let's share some ideas of little gifts we can give!

Spread joy and love to your kids. It is contagious! And that's a good thing!

From Twigs to Trees!

OK, girlfriends, I'm ready to show you what I have been working on for weeks and weeks.  I told you I was working on something for two special people - it is done!  Let me tell you who, what, when, where, and why.  For as long as I can remember I have given my girls a "Happy December" present.  I just love the Christmas season so much that I am ready to begin the celebration.  So on December 1 I would have a gift for my kids.  They might come home from school and find a Christmas shirt on their bed or I would present them with Christmas socks or a Christmas trinket, maybe cookie cutters or sticker book.  Just something.   For fun!  This year I made: Grapevine Christmas trees!!!!  I had lots of help!  My sister, Nancy, Mark, and Hank all helped me gather the vines.  Poor Hank got poison twice from helping me find vines!  Then I wrapped the vines around a tomato cage using the vines and thin wire. ...

One Month To Live

Have you ever focused on life on those terms.....one month, 30 days, and it is over?  There is a book by Kerry and Chris Shook entitled just that.  "One Month To Live."  If you consider, contemplate, study this aspect of life in an honest for real way - you just might begin to walk a little differently. This past Sunday, my husband introduced this thought of what would we do if we knew we only had one month to live.  He passed out 3 X 5 cards and asked everyone to write what they would do.  I will tell you the expanded version of what I wrote. 1.  I would like to spend time with my family (bonus: at the beach) so I could enjoy the love and laughter and fun we always share.  I would want time with my kids so I could tell them how awesome they are, how proud they make me feel because of their heart they each have for God, because of the love they share with one another, and because of the way I see them care for those around them.   I love to see...
