MOM

Happy Mother's Day!  I love being a mom.  I love my three very special children.  I loved every stage of their sweet life.  When they were babies I loved to hold them, examine their sweet little lashes, their adorable toes (kiss kiss), hold their delicate hands.  When they would wrap their tiny fingers around my finger my heart would melt.  When they were toddler age I got such joy from every new thing they discovered, every new move or sound - loved their sweet coos and gentle laughs.  As they grew and changed and developed their unique personality I was privileged to witness and be a part of it all.  And I loved it all -  All three kids are adults now and I could not be prouder of each of them.

Holly is a great mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter.  She is loving and caring and gives unconditionally of herself to her family and friends.  I see her delight in Caden and love to still hear her giggle at Michael and now Caden.  Holly is true and loyal and beautiful.  Holly loves the Lord and it is evident in her whole life - every part of it.  If you are privileged to call her your friend, you are blessed.

Lindsey is a princess.  Just ask her, she will tell you.  We laugh when we say that, but let me tell you a little about this princess.  She treats you like royalty!  She loves life and adventure.  She will put herself out there for you, go the extra mile, and do it special. You can expect the unexpected from her.   Lindsey wants to put her mark on the world, wants to make a difference for Christ in other peoples lives.  Lindsey is loyal and loving and a fighter!  Fighter in that she will fight for what is right, she will fight to defend you.  She is fierce in whatever role she is taking.  She if fierce in her love for Joey and their relationship.  It is fun to look through Lindsey eyes because she sees vibrant color in her world.

Mark is a free spirit.  He has talent that is remarkable.  He has a killer smile.  He is so thoughtful and full of love for his family.  He thinks things through, yet at times he is impulsive and spontaneous.  He is fun and funny and makes you laugh.  He can be so serious and he can be so crazy.  He has been so awesome to be with his daddy and I at church where we are now, helping and encouraging.  He does entertain us, too.  He is always a bright spot in our day.  I think one of the best things I like about Mark is his ability to notice what interests his sisters or friends and then to do something special or give a special gift to them (and us).   He is not a last minute person.  He is prepared and deliberate.  Mark is loving and caring and fun!

It is easy to see why I love being a mom.  I have three great kids who make my heart sing!

There is another young man I consider part mine.  Kevin.  He is  great kid, too.  He has a fun and joyous attitude about life and people.  He is warm and caring and playful.  I see a strength in him that I don't think he realizes he has.  He will forever be in my heart and in my prayers.

Merry & Bright, A Devotion

Merry & Bright I love Christmas.  I remember as a little girl the magical times my mom orchestrated for our family and friends to truly make the season “Merry & Bright.” They were things like baking the most wonderful Christmas goodies.  Lots and lots of of goodies.  We would package them up on plates and deliver to shut-ins and special family friends.  There were four of us kids, so we did not get out of the car (Mom, working smart here!) I mean, there were no seat belt laws, there were probably not any seat belts! Anyway, She would hop out of the car, run to the door and present our gift and point to us and we would all wave, shout “Merry Christmas!” Sometimes our friends might walk Mom back to the car and say hi and give hugs.  Another way Mom made our season “Merry & Bright” was by opening our home for gatherings.  Mom was the choir director at our church for many years.  She would always have the choir (about 30 members!)  and their families over one Sun
