Lighted Snowman! You Can DIY.

This guy is so cute!! He will look great on the mantle or table.

The items you need are all from Dollar Tree or Dollar General.
*Two fish bowls (small and smaller)
*Mod Podge (gloss or matte)
*White glitter
*Sponge brush
*A set of battery run 10 light strand and batteries
*Ribbon or fabric for scarf
*Your choice of hat or ear muffs (hat is an ornament from Dollar Tree. Dollar General also has some ornament hats. The ear muffs are made of 2 pom poms and a pipe cleaner.)
*Face
*Hot glue gun and glue

I bought these two fish bowls at the Dollar Tree.  They are two different sizes.  Wash them, get the stickers off then wipe them down, inside and out with rubbing alcohol or vinegar water.

Use the sponge brush to coat the inside one bowl with the Mod Podge.  It does not need to be too thick because you do not want it to run and be drippy.  Pour about 2 tablespoons of glitter in bowl and shake, turn to get the glitter all inside the bowl.  I also would set a paper plate over opening of bowl and hold it tight and shake the bowl upside down to get the glitter to coat all the way to the top. Once you feel the glitter has completely coated the inside, pour the loose glitter onto the paper plate and set the bowl aside to dry completely.  Then do the second bowl the same way.
(Don't mind my table cloth!  Lol.  It is my table covering for all my crafting. You may see paint, glue, glitter ----)

I have a vinyl cutting machine so I cut the face out of black and orange vinyl and stuck it on.  If you do not have a vinyl machine, there are a couple of ways you can put a face on your snowman.  You can use the sheets of foam and cut out the eyes, mouth, and carrot nose.  You can use the cute Googly eyes or buttons, acrylic paint, sharpies.  I have done the paint and the foam - both look cute!! I will even make the vinyl face for you ($2) if you want one like you see here.

Once the inside Mod Podged Glitter is completely dry you can put the lights on the inside.  I put half the lights in the top, then the other half in the bottom, allowing the battery pack to hang down low enough on the outside to lay ont he table. Then I do about an inch of hot glue in two different places on the rim of the bottom bowl and set the smaller bowl on top.  That way it hold firm, but if you ever need to replace the lights, you can peel the glue off to get to the lights.

Here are several of the snowmen our women's ministry completed.  We are using them for table center pieces for a Christmas party we are sponsoring for Children with Downs in our town.
Aren't they adorable???  You can see the different head gear and scarfs.

They all look so happy!!!  And the light make them glow so pretty!!! I think you will want to make one for yourself and one for your friends!!!
I think I have covered everything, but please let me know if you have any questions.  And if you do make your own snowman, please post a picture - I want to see!!!!!!

Merry & Bright, A Devotion

Merry & Bright I love Christmas.  I remember as a little girl the magical times my mom orchestrated for our family and friends to truly make the season “Merry & Bright.” They were things like baking the most wonderful Christmas goodies.  Lots and lots of of goodies.  We would package them up on plates and deliver to shut-ins and special family friends.  There were four of us kids, so we did not get out of the car (Mom, working smart here!) I mean, there were no seat belt laws, there were probably not any seat belts! Anyway, She would hop out of the car, run to the door and present our gift and point to us and we would all wave, shout “Merry Christmas!” Sometimes our friends might walk Mom back to the car and say hi and give hugs.  Another way Mom made our season “Merry & Bright” was by opening our home for gatherings.  Mom was the choir director at our church for many years.  She would always have the choir (about 30 members!)  and their families over one Sun
