Make Mine Buffalo Plaid

Here is another tree ornament just like the Jute ornament, only using fabric strips! I am thinking about adding a ribbon bow on the top of the tree.

The supplies are: foam tree (from Hobby Lobby), one strip of fabric that is about 1" in width and 30" in length. I tore it so it would have the rustic look. You will need a glue gun and I used jute for a hang loop on the top.

I started at the bottom on this ornament. Glue a strip on the bottom, then cut as you go, layering the next strip above and keep going up. Just before I put the top layer on I cut a small square and put it on the tip then layered the last strip. Is this clear as mud?

I think the fabric can really be a great way to go to use the color theme you choose. And adding bows on top would really be cute! Let me see what you do with this project!!!

From Twigs to Trees!

OK, girlfriends, I'm ready to show you what I have been working on for weeks and weeks. I told you I was working on something for two special people - it is done! Let me tell you who, what, when, where, and why. For as long as I can remember I have given my girls a "Happy December" present. I just love the Christmas season so much that I am ready to begin the celebration. So on December 1 I would have a gift for my kids. They might come home from school and find a Christmas shirt on their bed or I would present them with Christmas socks or a Christmas trinket, maybe cookie cutters or sticker book. Just something. Sister's Birthday Gift

I just had to do Mark's idea - and he helped me - to make a gift for Nancy for her birthday. I had seen this little poem about growing up with a sister and thought it was perfect. So we went to several thrift stores looking for the perfect sized canvas picture and after only two stops - found it! This is the canvas with the letters I stuck on it and I began there in the bottom corner to paint it a dark brown. The canvas is a golden with thin trees and some words in cursive in a light brown. As you see, I was using a paint brush, but I changed to a small roller. It worked much much better. Completely painted the top and the sides of the canvas a brown color. Then I let it dry - probably about 30 minutes. Then pealed off the letters! Here is the finished product: And it's true. I did tell on her - it was for her own good. :)
